How to Play Patience

Patience, also known as Solitaire, is a single-player card game. The objective is to move all cards to four foundation piles, sorted by suit and in ascending order from Ace to King.

Setup

The game uses a standard 52-card deck. The setup involves dealing cards into seven tableau piles. The first pile has one card, the second has two, and so on until the seventh pile has seven cards. Only the top card of each tableau is face-up; the rest are face-down. The remaining cards form the stock pile.

Gameplay

  1. Move cards: You can move face-up cards from the tableau to the foundation piles if they match in suit and are in ascending order. You can also move cards within the tableau by placing them on top of a card of the opposite color and one rank higher. For example, a red six can be placed on a black seven.
  2. Reveal face-down cards: When you move a face-up card from a tableau pile, reveal the top face-down card by turning it face-up.
  3. Build tableau piles: You can move a sequence of cards as a unit within the tableau if they are in descending order and alternate colors.
  4. Fill empty tableau spaces: Only a King, or a sequence starting with a King, can be placed in an empty tableau space.
  5. Use the stock pile: If no moves are available, draw cards from the stock pile. Flip one card at a time and either place it on a tableau pile or move it to a foundation pile.

Winning the Game

You win the game by moving all cards to the foundation piles in the correct order and suit. The game ends when all cards are correctly placed
